DeMarcus Milliner-CB Projected Position: Cornerback, Special Teams Hometown: Millbrook, AL Height: 6-foot-1 Weight: 180 lbs
Milliner is the type of "great size, great speed all-around player" coaches drool over. Although not listed as an ATH, his skills on both sides of the ball, as well as a special teams speedster help promote him as an immediate impact ballplayer. While extremely gifted on offense (438 yds rushing and 7 TDs), some may project him for a possible safety spot, but his run support is his weakest asset...if being "very good" at something can be construed as a weakness...he lacks the overall size to stop the physicality of an SEC running game. At least right now.
Bama will most likely utilize him to fill gaps in the secondary with the losses of Javier Arenas and Marquis Johnson after this season. His open field tackle skills will be honed by Saban and staff, but more coaching will be put into his cover skills and jamming abilities to compliment his long arms and solid frame. Milliner is obviously a tremendous athlete, but these areas will need to be polished in order to combat the speed and talent of the conference.
