Nick Perry-S Projected Position: Safety Hometown: Prattville, AL Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 195 lbs 40-yard Dash: 4.55 secs Bench max: 230 pounds Squat max: 430 pounds
Prattville’s Nick Perry was the Tide’s 4th commitment to the 2010 class. A solid tackler with great fundamentals, Perry has been labeled as a headhunter by most recruiting experts, citing a particular nasty nature that erupts from within when the ball takes flight.
Perry is one of Alabama’s top players, and tallied some sick numbers during his 2008 prep season. He finished 2008 with 37 total tackles, including 22 solos, one tackle for a loss, six deflections, and four interceptions returned for a total of 72 yards and a touchdown.
While he mainly played as a Safety in high school, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that under Saban’s system, he could grow into the outside linebacker position. His tenacity is both his biggest asset and his biggest liability. Most of the recruiting experts agree that he needs to work on his fundamentals, as he often plays out of control leading to either missed tackles or arm tackles. However his speed and quickness has negated some of his weaknesses to this point.
